MCU Shang-Chi movie fancast

giveshangchihisownshow:

Been wanting to make this, especially considering my username. So…here we go.

1) Tiger Chen as Shang-Chi (going with a lesser-known actor, give him the MCU boost)

2) Yuen Wah as Zheng Zu, Shang-Chi’s father and the main antagonist of the movie. In this version, he is a powerful mobster that rules over the criminal undergrounds all over East Asia and Southeast Asia (so…Kingpin, but way more powerful).

Also, he’s not referred to as “Fu Manchu” for obvious reasons.

3) Jiang Wen as Zheng Zu’s wise brother and Shang-Chi’s father figure. He gets the “tragic death at the hands of the villain, inspiring the main protagonist to rise up and take revenge”.

4) Jim Broadbent as Sir Denis Nayland Smith, Zheng Zu’s nemesis and the leader of the MI6 team investigating his activities. He ends up recruiting Shang-Chi when they realize their goals match.

5) Awkwafina as Fah Lo Suee, a spoiled, wealthy businesswoman and Zheng Zu’s daughter / Shang-Chi’s half-sister. She’s the secondary antagonist of the movie.

(with this description, I like to think she’s playing an evil version of her character from Crazy Rich Asians here)

6) Henry Cavill as “Black” Jack Tarr, a MI6 agent who becomes Shang-Chi’s best friend / sidekick

7) Katie Leung as Leiko Wu, a former SHIELD agent who reluctantly works with MI6. She is Shang-Chi’s main love interest.

8) Jimmy Akingbola as M’Nai / Midnight, a Wakandan exile who was adopted and raised by Zheng Zu as Shang-Chi and Fah Lo Suee’s brother.

9) Iko Uwais as Shen Kuei / The Cat, a mercenary and Shang-Chi’s main rival / occasional ally. He’s not a villain but does have a rivalry with Shang-Chi over who is the better martial artist between them.

10) Yayan Ruhian, Brandon Vera, Julie Estelle, and Tsuyoshi Ihara as Zheng Zu’s lieutenants. They all have a badass fight scene with Shang-Chi and friends (think of them as “boss fights”).

11) Ali Wong appears as one of Shang-Chi’s friends who tags along with him once he goes after Zheng Zu. Basically, the movie’s comic relief character.

12) Donnie Yen appears in the minor role of Tiger Claw, Zheng Zu’s closest lieutenant and the leader of the Si-Fan, an ancient secret society that controls all of Asia. He takes over Zheng Zu’s criminal empire after Zheng Zu’s defeat.

His role is minor here because he’ll be the main villain of Shang-Chi 2.

13) Brie Larson cameos as Carol Danvers / Captain Marvel in the post-credits scene, where she approaches Shang-Chi for a position in the New Avengers.

whenever i want to put a ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ in one of my posts i google “shrug emoji” and copy and paste it and i think the reality behind this process kind of undermines the whole blasé, “lmao, who cares? not me” feel i’m trying to add to these posts by adding my little ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ guy in the first place

lol-biscuit:

I’m watching La La Land and it’s ok but it could be a lot better!

  • Ryan Gosling didn’t seem suited to the musical aspects of the role, maybe cast a different hearthrob with more experience in the genre, like Zac Efron
  • Emma Stone similarly didn’t seem to thrive with the singing and dancing, so maybe cast someone again with experience and heck why not someone with proven chemistry with zac efron.. maybe vanessa hudgens
  • Maybe if the male love interest was into something a little more relatable than Jazz? Like maybe basketball?
  • Female character seemed a little flat, maybe if she was also incredibly gifted with math and science?
  • Setting of LA wasn’t particularly relatable, maybe if it was set somewhere universal? Like High School?
  • Just watch High School Musical

How is Disney gonna preach “work hard and your dreams will come true” when Sharpay & Ryan worked almost their whole lives to be on top but then Gabriella & Troy showed up not even able to two step with their boring ass acoustic versions of every single song and stole the spotlight Sharpay and Ryan are supposed to be the villains like…okay work
